The invisible universe contained within a glass. A highly structured Cabernet Franc from a second harvest, created to celebrate the microscopic life that inhabits our ecosystem.
A full-bodied, structured and intense red wine with remarkable ageing potential. Microcosmo is a pure Cabernet Franc produced from a second harvest: the finest and healthiest bunches are selected and left to ripen on the vine for a further 20–25 days, before being harvested by hand in October. This period of extended ripening on the vine allows the grapes to concentrate their sugars, polyphenols and aromas, resulting in fruit of extraordinary richness and density.
The label of Microcosmo is an evocative watercolor by Vicenza artists Carlo Stratta and Angela Albera. The artwork visually represents the cosmos – the entire universe – enclosed and floating within a glass of living wine. It is a powerful metaphor for the very name of the wine: a profound tribute to the microorganisms and the invisible microscopic world (yeasts, fungi, beneficial bacteria) that inhabits and protects our vineyard, from the deep roots in the soil all the way to the leaves and the skins of the grape clusters. Without this teeming microscopic life, the vine would not be able to absorb nutrients from the earth, and the wine could not ferment spontaneously in a complete and qualitatively उत्कृष्ट manner.
Characteristics:
Grape: 100% Cabernet Franc.
Fermentation: Natural and spontaneous, triggered and carried out by the indigenous yeasts present on the grape skins (the guardians of our microcosm).
Ageing: After vinification, the wine undergoes 6–9 months of ageing in oak barrels, which softens the tannins and enhances its complexity, before completing its maturation in the bottle in the historic cellars of Palazzo da Schio, Ca’ d’Oro in Vicenza.
Tasting Notes: an intensely coloured wine with a complex and explosive aromatic profile. It is the ideal companion for grilled meats, roasts, game and aged cheeses. It also surprises and fascinates when paired with rich and spicy dishes from international cuisine.
Alcohol Content: 14% vol.
